Job Description/Objectives:

Because of the build of an IS Competence Center in Brussels, an opportunity has arisen in the Staples Business Applications Team for an IS Functional Analyst - Project Manager who will be working on a variety of projects. The main work will be in the ERP application area (Merchandise Management and a strong focus on Supply Chain systems). Working as part of a European Shared Services Team, the position will report to the Team Lead Projects for Business Applications in Europe.

 

The candidate will go through an induction program, and become acquainted with the Staples environment by documenting business processes.  Thereupon the candidate will take up IS projects. 

 

This will be a ‘hands on’ role, so the candidate should have excellent technical and functional skills and a good knowledge of Merchandising and Supply Chain processes.  Whilst having the ability to manage small to medium sized projects   and displaying excellent organizational and communication skills, the candidate will be a confident self starter, with a results orientated focus.

Responsibilities:

 

Systems Strategy

 

·         Contribute to the evolution of Staples Systems Strategy through observation of trends in use on the current used systems and communicating recommendations to Senior Managers.


Delivery

 

·         Deliver projects with efficiency identifying critical factors on time, prioritizing resources and tasks, and communicating project activity to stakeholders.

·         Provide leadership to other IS teams relating to the application of current systems.

·         Operate in conjunction with European, US and Business Unit team members.

·         Understand, analyze and formalize business requirements.

·         Perform project management for projects between 75 - 400 man days. Projects can be roll-outs of existing applications to new Business Units or building systems via a System Development Lifecycle Project.

·         Establish documentation of business procedures to follow.

·         Maintain appropriate plans for project work.

·         Perform systems analysis in close collaboration with the development teams.

·         Responsible for Quality Assurance Testing and User Acceptance Testing for assigned applications.


Support

 

·         Perform 2nd and 3rd level support as required, personally and/or with the help of other resources (internal or external) to resolve all support tickets raised.

·         Ensure that the business Users and the various European IS teams have appropriate training

 

Customer User Partnering

 

·   Develop on going relationships with key business users and IS Teams, to discuss

   solutions, plan work activities communicate progress and to drive decisions when required.

·   Work ‘as one team’ with the other IS Competence Centers.

Communication

 

·   Encourage efficient communication within the team and across IS.

·   Organize efficient communication towards business contacts through regular reports, project meetings, etc..

 

 

Functie-eisen

 

Qualification/Requirements:

 

Essential

 

·         Master degree in computer science, business administration, operations engineering or related field.

·         Min. 5 years experience in a Functional Analyst role

·         Good understanding of business processes, preferably in a Merchandising or Supply Chain  environment

·         Focus on IS systems; ERP experience is a must. Furthermore: Excel, Access, Visio, SQL, …

·         Familiar with project methodologies like Prince 2, PMI or SCRUM

·         Ability to visualize business processes (Visio, UML, ...).

·         Good knowledge of supply chain processes.

·         Good data analysis capabilities (SQL, Excel, Access)

·         Team player

·         Pragmatic approach

·         English is the corporate language; Dutch, French and German would be an asset.

·         Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize between the needs of different projects.

·         Good time-management skills (ability to progress different topics concurrently)

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel.

·         Ability to travel within Europe
